Also, I've updated the music section to include my recent voice recital. Thanks to all who attended... and if you didn't, I hope you enjoy the mp3s!

Hi. I went to Magic Mountain this weekend. I don't usually buy those expensive, roller-coaster souvenir photos of you screaming like a little girl, but this one was just -too- good.

Today I listened to Rufus Wainwright's latest album, Want Two. This album is the artsy, dreamy follow-up to last year's rock album, Want One. I swear, every time this man releases something new, I think it is a work of genius. Each of his successive albums has a more and more polished sound, and it has reached the point of being slightly overproduced. But I don't mind this, because the arrangements are really beautiful. I even love the CD artwork and its thematic coherence with Want One's. Song of the moment: The One You Love. "Want you to make love to me, and only to me in the dark..." (Hehe, when I first heard this lyric, I thought the line was "Want you to make love to me in a litany in the dark," which doesn't make total sense but is so much hotter...)

Some of you may know that I have been slightly depressed lately. It stemmed partly from the stress I had been experiencing at work, in addition to other personal issues. My outlet for frustration was the *mix CD*. Carefully I chose a handful of songs to keep me company. I think typically these mixes are put together by my subconscious, because I only realize their theme after the mix is complete. The first mix I made was a really sad and beautiful tribute to tortured love. When I realized that I had made a mix about this, I became very upset. But I feel better now. So I made another mix about saying "fuck it" and being both angry and happy. Now I am ready to share these mixes with you! Feel free to psychoanalyze, it's fun! Read my comments for the playlists...

Tonight Toffee passed away. She died sleeping. Tomorrow I will bury her in my parents' yard, with some food and some bedding, in her little exercise ball, so she can enjoy shelter, sustenance, and pleasure in the hamster afterlife. She was the best hamster ever. I sure will miss her...
Toffee. January 2003 - November 2004.
