Meet the newest addition to our family --

Cinnabon!


We picked her up from the Pasadena Humane Society. There were two other hamsters in need of homes, and we wanted to adopt them too! Alas, such is the temptation of adopting from an animal shelter.

But yay! New hamster! :) :) :) The cat was certainly intrigued...

Life is so exciting!!!

First, I've officially entered the modern age by deeming my 5-year old desktop PC obsolete. Old Klunky is being phased out in favor of my brand new, sexy red laptop! I've been busy filling it up with open source software, copying over all my important data, learning about the marvels of video chat (for you, Em!), and cursing Windows Vista.

When it comes to disk space, John and I are greedy bastards. Our laptops, iPods, and backup drives total up to almost 1.5 terabytes of space. :)

Second, I got accepted to UCLA!!11!!! With a tuition waiver, living stipend, and guaranteed on-campus graduate housing! (Movin' on up, to the West Sieeeeede...!)

Until fall quarter starts, I'll be working, saving money, and brushing up on differential equations. Wish me luck!

The best-laid plans...

OMG. I just got off the phone with my new (potential) advisor at UCLA, who told me that my application was "favorably received"! This is still unofficial, but I've got a good feeling about this...!

The big, big, big news is that they upped the ante and told me I'd be eligible for a free ride and more if I applied for the Ph.D track. So guess what I did? :)
