Hi everybody! What an awesome week it's been!
I know I'm extremely prejudiced in this regard, but I thought our wedding was spectacular. Thanks to all who helped make it possible, and whose love and support made it so fulfilling and worthwhile.
The wedding day was probably the strangest day I've ever experienced. I had slept not one wink, I was too nervous to eat, and I was so jittery I might as well have had 10 cups of coffee! And yet, I felt thrilled, happy, beautiful, and loved all day long. The wedding planning was stressful for sure, and I spent a lot of my pre-wedding energies hoping for it to be over soon; but now that it is... I miss our wedding!!!
(Those of you who took pictures, please do share them with me!)
There was an after-party at my Uncle's house for dinner. I swore there would be no line-dancing to Achy Breaky Heart at my wedding, but apparently there is no way to avoid this with my family. Only this time, it was on the living room floor while Uncle Paul provided vocals on the Magic Mic. TWICE.
For our honeymoon, we had lofty plans of soaking up L.A. culture at the local museums, theatres, and music venues. Guess how much we ended up seeing? NONE! :) We ended up checking into the Ritz-Carlton in Pasadena and decided it was so fun that we... just stayed there! We lived The Good Life for a few days... this means gourmet meals 4-5 times a day, really good champagne with every meal, and lounging in the spa waiting for the next meal to start! Once we realized we could no longer afford this, we returned to my apartment which, sadly, was suffering from months of domestic neglect. (It's clean now!)
Having been abruptly ushered back into The Ordinary Life, we did get a chance to visit our favorite multi-millionaires (Norton Simon and Henry Huntington), go dancing, and catch up on our summer blockbusters.
What we're watching:
Transformers -- Cool robots. That's about it.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -- Very good adaptation of the book. I like how it gets darker and more interesting with each successive book/movie. When you go back to the first couple of books, you realize they're really really fluffy!
Ratatouille -- I love Brad Bird's movies. (He also wrote/directed
Iron Giant and
The Incredibles).
Ratatouille is very charming, once you get over the fact that rats are cooking. The food looks really good, too!
John is flying over the Pacific as I type this. I've gone from "Awwwwwwwww!" to "Waaaaaaaaa!" :(
