Here, there, and everywhere.

I've had a busy week! Saturday was the choir's annual pops concert. This year, the theme was "The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein." A bit done-to-death in my repertoire, but I do still love their music! The concert consisted of a few choral medleys and a barrage of recital-style solos. There are some really beautiful voices in this choir! Here's a shot of Stephi and I doing Honey Bun from South Pacific. With choreography! The whole shebang will be up on youtube in a few weeks!

On Monday, I went to Portland to network and learn about up and coming research at the yearly NLM training conference. The talks were just so-so in my opinion (grad student talks, joy), but I appreciated the free food and Portland is a pretty town. Did you know that Portland is the new San Francisco? Everyone seems to be going these days.

Animal news (because I know you're dying to know): Andy and Zoid came out of their cage and flew around today! They're a bit clumsy and out of shape, but they'll be getting stronger soon!

Catching up on life!

Laker game on mute, Bob Dylan on the radio, glass of wine in hand... wait, haven't we been here before? Not exactly -- unlike last week, I have no finals to study for! I'm on summer vacation! YAY! Well, I'm still plenty busy -- comprehensive exams in July, a summer programming project to keep me off the streets, and an upcoming show with the choir. But at least I now have time to catch up on laundry and pay attention to my blogs! :)

I've passed the 2-month mark with my feathered and furry friends. Adzuki is becoming a great pet! He doesn't bite anymore, and he loves coming outside to play. Because he's not as fond of the ball as Toffee and Cinnabon were, we've set up the hallway as a little playpen for him. He scampers at top speed, running back and forth through his cardboard tubes, discovering treats we leave for him, and climbing over his little hamster fence (which, by the way, is useless for enclosing a hamster, but is a fun climbing toy).

Andy and Zoid are both hand tame now. Millet spray is a wonderful thing! Surprisingly, it was Andy who learned first. He's turning out to be a cheerful, charming little bird. Zoid is the "evil" one of the two, but he's a good bird as long as Andy isn't stealing his food! The birds even eat their veggies now. I'm looking forward to spending my next few years with these little creatures! My next project is getting them to come out of the cage -- currently, they just stare in astonishment at the open door, or hop back inside when I try to take them out. :P

Life is good.

Laker game on mute, Bob Dylan on the radio, beer in hand, and quiche in the oven. That's what I'm talkin' about!
