Now that John and I are back in California, we are doing wedding planning at full speed!
First things first: I picked up my dress! (Yes, I bought into the idea of THE dress. I couldn't help myself!) The dress had been with the seamstress for over a month, during which time I obsessed over whether or not I would look good in it. It came back absolutely perfect -- just the right combination of special but relaxed. I admit that David's Bridal is the Starbucks of the wedding gown industry, but I had a good experience there. Do you want pictures? Just let me know! You know you want to!!
Also, John's suit is almost ready for pickup. I asked him, "Ooooh, is it THE suit?" and succeeded in sounding ridiculous.
We also applied for our marriage license, which turned out to be pretty fun! You want to have a good time? Put John in a structured environment and stand back.
What I'm watching:
Pirates 3. It's completely silly, but I liked it.
What I'm reading:
Altared. A collection essays on weddings and marriage, in the context of identity, feminism, consumerism, and... many other -isms. :P The stories are really thoughtful and personal and I am devouring this book.
...And,
Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior. Etiquette! Outdated and unnecessary, or totally useful? Either way, Miss Manners explains modern etiquette with charm, wit, and a healthy dose of sarcasm.
Travel: NONE lined up in the forseeable future. The last run was a big success!
