Singing, animals, and singing animals: 4-week update.
Singing:
I love this choir I'm singing in! The sacred music is gorgeous and it's a great vocal workout. The learning curve is steep, so I find it really stimulating and challenging. The people are super-nice, talented, and a lot of fun. So far I've sung at 3 high masses and 1 requiem. And we're preparing for a Rodgers and Hammerstein concert on June 20, which I'm inviting you all to. I'll even have a solo! :)
Animals:
Adzuki's almost full grown, but instead of a stout hamster body, he's got a long sleek runner's bod. We're getting more comfortable handling him -- now I only use one glove and he doesn't bite it... but I'm not ready to hold him in my bare hands yet. Those teeth are sharp! :P
Singing animals:
The birds aren't afraid of my hand anymore, so now I've decided to start getting serious about perch training. Zoid doesn't step up yet, though he does peck and touch the perch with his feet, which is progress. Andy is more skittish, so I'll train him second. I can't wait to get them tamed so I can let them out of the cage finally!
Edited to add: I think they like my singing!
Bonus!
Here's a video of John and me performing some novelty music at a party. Tom Lehrer, the Harvard-schooled mathematician who penned the song, is a genius. Watch it in HD if you dare!
